Start by reading our free overview study guide to learn what’s on the exam, then take a free full-length practice test to see how you’re likely to perform. Extended test time for test takers whose primary language is not English, referred to as PLNE accommodations, is available. Subsection weights are always proportional to the actual number of questions in the subsection. In the Reading and Language Arts subtest, for instance, 38 Reading subsection questions really roughly 47% of the 80 total questions on the subtest. Similarly, the remaining 42 questions in the Writing/ Listening/Speaking subtest is proportional to 53% of 80. All students must pass the Praxis® Subject Assessment test(s) in all subjects appropriate to their certification areas. If you take a Praxis in the state of Nevada your scores are automatically sent to the Nevada Department of Education. However, you will need to either email or upload your scores to iteachNEVADA so that our office has record of your passing results.
If a question prompts you to select multiple answers or seems to test more than one important concept, it may be worth more than one point. So the correlation between your number of right answers and your scaled score isn’t always exact. The purpose of the booklet is to provide test taking strategies to use for the PRAXIS Elementary Education Science exam. The booklet contains over 70 strategies to achieve a passing score on the PRAXIS Elementary Education Science exam. All strategies included apply for the PRAXIS Elementary Education Science exam.
This ensures you are studying what you will see on test day–nothing more, nothing less. Everything in our study guide is aligned with the test specifications and blueprint for the exam. That way, you can review how the test is designed and what skills are assessed. In fact, the questions in our study guide are structured similarly to what you will encounter on test day.

“I have taken the math praxis 3 times and wanted to give up. I ordered the bundle of math tests and I passed the math praxis today.
Thank you for all the help.” Finally, if you are seeking certification in special education or reading, you’ll be required to take additional exams for those areas. What is the passing score for the science Praxis 5005?
Passing Minimum Scores for Each Subtest:
Reading/Language Arts Subtest (5002) – 157. Math Subtest (5003) – 157. Social Studies Subtest (5004) – 155. Science Subtest (5005) – 159.
These raw scores will show you how many answers you got right on each subtest, but won’t convert your number of correct answers into a scaled score. The Praxis Elementary Education Multiple Subjects Science exam is designed for individuals who have completed or are close to completing a teacher education program at a college or university. Candidates should be seeking certification as an elementary school teacher in the United States. The specific eligibility requirements may vary depending on the state or jurisdiction in which the candidate wishes to be certified.

Therefore, you have hundreds of practice questions to work with. Because the subtests are scored separately, you can pass all or some sections of the exam. If you pass some sections but not others, you can retake just the sections you were unsuccessful in. For example, if you pass the language arts and reading, the social studies, and the science sections, but fail the math section, you will just retake the math the next time around.
If you need more support, you can check out our Praxis 5001 online course.Like the study guide, you can purchase the whole course or individual subtests. Obviously, we believe our study guide is the very best resource you can purchase to prepare for the Praxis 5001. The book is sectioned out by subtest, and within those subtests we’ve aligned all of the information with the test specifications and blueprint.
The scoring system for Praxis 5001 is especially confusing because this exam contains four subtests. Moreover, state licensing boards have different score requirements for every subtest in 5001! To make matters even more complex, each subtest has subsections within it.
For the full retest policy, see the Praxis® Information bulletin. Fee waivers may be available for college students who meet all eligibility criteria. If you qualify for a fee waiver, the test fees for up to three Core tests, or one Praxis® Subject Assessment may be waived. In other words, if you correctly answer a question that most test-takers get wrong, you may get additional points. However, this kind of “difficulty adjustment” is said to be pretty rare on the Praxis 5001. Now, remember earlier in this post, when I asked you to imagine you needed 175? So congratulations, you can imagine you passed the Science subtest! Better yet, this 4-step score calculation process works for the subtests on the real Praxis 5001 you took, too. Apart from the required components within iteachNEVADA (coursework and residency) every future teacher must pass specific exams to demonstrate to schools and the state competency.
If you are planning on becoming an educator, you’ll need to pass your Praxis exams. Since elementary school educators teach all core subjects to their students, they will need to pass all subtests within the Praxis family, including the Praxis Science (5005). Currently, 44 states require teachers to have passed the Praxis exams before getting their credentials and officially being licensed as teachers.
The test covers various topics related to elementary science education, including Earth and Space Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and the nature of science and scientific inquiry. The exam aims to evaluate candidates’ understanding of essential scientific concepts and their ability to apply these concepts in a classroom setting. Your practice plan is divided into stages that start with focused skill practice and lead up to timed full-length practice tests. As your weaknesses turn into strengths, you’ll see your test scores rise towards your goal.

Many test-takers like the convenience of self-paced online prep. Others prefer being part of our prep classes where they can interact with a live teacher and ask questions. Study Guides are organized into learning modules and then smaller sections that include instructional content and videos, flash cards, and quizzes. Explanations are provided for each of the choices, so you understand why an answer is correct. I can answer this question with a firm “probably.” However, there’s always a chance your official Praxis 5001 subtest scores will be adjusted from your estimation. First off, don’t worry too much about the percentage of the subtest that each subsection is worth.

Where the GPA is 3.50 or higher, and the passing score is no less than the scores in the “Passing Score − 5% column” below, the test requirement will be met. We are fully accredited with the Better Business Bureau, and have many satisfied customers who have successfully passed their certification exam with the help of our test preparation materials. Our 5-test bundle of practice exams costs less than the cost of taking the actual certification exam. Your practice exams are available anytime anywhere on any device. The Science (5005) subtest alone costs $60 to take, with the combined multi-subject Elementary Education exam totaling $170. That may not seem like a huge dent in the bank account, but you’ll want to make sure you pass your Praxis exam the first time so you can avoid paying several times to take the same test over and over again.
The Praxis® Information bulletin provides information on registration, test day procedures and score reporting. The Praxis® Subject Assessments measure subject-specific knowledge, as well as general and subject-specific teaching skills, that K-12 educators need for beginning teaching. If pursuing initial certification in Elementary, you are not required to have the Praxis exam passed before you are provided a Conditional License.
People have a range of skill levels when it comes to this test, so it is difficult to predict exactly how or how long you should study. This is a very large exam that covers expansive content for each subtest. This is much better than cramming all of your studying into one or two weekends. While our study guide is aligned with the test, it is against testing policy to share items on the actual exam. It is difficult to predict exactly how many questions you must get correct to pass the Praxis 5001 because a scale score is used rather than a raw score. This means that your raw score–the number of questions you get correct–is put into a formula to calculate a scale score.
In this sense, the exam is one of the final hurdles you must face before starting your career, and it may be the most important. Rider University’s College of Education and Human Services is committed to the success of our students. We have purchased many of the interactive practice tests directly from ETS to assist our students in preparing for the Subject Assessments or Content Knowledge tests. These tests will help to prepare students in a timed, online environment that simulates the real test. These tests will help you practice one full set of authentic test questions and after completing the test, view your results by content category along with the correct answers and explanations for each correct answer.
We believe minute study sessions over a 1-2 week period for each subtest is ideal. That means it will take you anywhere from 4-6 weeks in total to study for the entire exam. If you’re digging deep into the material, you’ll need time to dedicate to each subtest.
