Your raw score is converted to a scale that will range from 100 to 300. Courses address the knowledge and competencies required for MA Department of Early Education and Care Teacher Qualifications in preschool age, if the teaching practicum was in a pre-k or kindergarten classroom. Students should access the Department of Early Education and Care website and follow directions regarding qualifications. Any teacher will tell you that writing is a higher-order thinking task.
It is the student’s responsibility to identify these requirements. You have 255 minutes, or 4 hours and 15 minutes, to write 2 open responses no longer than 500 words in length, plus 100 multiple choice questions. You took longer final exams in high school, and probably in college, too. You’ll have ample time to carefully complete every test item, plus form thoughtful responses to the writing section.
Plus, once you’ve finished the writing portion, all you have left is selected-response items which are profoundly easier than constructed-response. The Acceleration Academies take place during February and April school vacations, with the academies in February traditionally focused on English language arts and academies in April focused on math and science. The field of study you want to obtain your license in will determine which MTEL exams you’ll need to take.

The worst part was that she knew that she could never get certified as a teacher in her desired subject area with a MTEL Early Childhood test score that low. On a beautiful late spring afternoon, this past year, a young woman received the devastating news. She had just gotten back her results on the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) Early Childhood test. In fact, it was not even close to the expectations she had and what she thought her excellent grades in college would help her score on the MTEL Early Childhood test. Unlimited access to your test re-views, no time limits & recurring charges. Three of them contain multiple-choice questions, and the fourth area contains the open-response item.

How hard is the MTEL communication and literacy test?
How Hard Is It to Pass an MTEL Exam? The MTEL exams are intended to measure your ability to be an educator in the state of Massachusetts. So they would have to be hard to pass, right? The answer is yes, the MTEL is difficult, but it is not impossible to pass.
ECE 260 requires completion of 26 general education credits with an overall GPA of 2.75 or better and a grade of “C” or better in all ECE courses. ECE 260 must be completed in the semester prior to completing ECE 261. When the average representation of what the perfect figure for women looks like turns out to be an incredibly thin, curve free model, it’s hard for women who are not born with this body type to accept that how they look is more than okay. With the media’s power over our gaze, lots of women then turn to diet and exercise to try and fit into society’s ideal figure. Failed diets and failed exercise routines lead us to feel even worse than when we started.
The new open-response questions share similarities with the current exam but with a new spin or two. Looking at the new test objectives of the new Early Childhood MTEL, I believe that the new exam will be easier for those who do not have a large general fund of knowledge in history and science. However, the new version will pose problems for another group of students—those who have difficulty with longer, wordy questions or who struggle with processing large amounts of information. • During this program, which requires a Teaching Practicum experience, Early Childhood students should be aware that young children are physically very active. Students must be able to move quickly and have sufficient visual and hearing acuity to accurately monitor children in their charge.
Through the MTEL test prep services of ETI, I have prepared almost 1,000 people for the 02 version of the Early Childhood exam since the early-or mid-2000s and know it well. The content on the 02 exam was middle-to-high school-level academics, which included science, history, ELA, and math, as well as child development and special education. The content of the old version of this exam is pretty challenging compared to the actual content taught by kindergarten, first, and second-grade teachers.
After that time, you have to re-register and pay the fee again. ETI’s test-taking system has saved the careers of hundreds of prospective educators. Anyone who considers themselves a poor test taker or suffers from a lack of confidence or test-taking anxiety is at a major disadvantage. This is why our program for the current exam focuses on increasing content knowledge but also emphasizes our logic-based test-taking system in our students. We teach our students how to avoid the attractor and score higher than they should based on their content knowledge. In addition, state colleges may set other requirements such as minimum acceptable grade(s) and/or courses accepted for transfer.

If test takers were not doing well on their MTEL Early Childhood test despite high intelligence, there had to be a set of secret keys to the test that would open the door of success for these test takers.
Here’s what I’ve learned
Licensure Program Components
Pre-Practicum
In the junior year, early childhood and elementary education students participate in an intensive classroom experience as part of their methods courses. To enroll in the pre-practicum students must pass two MTEL tests required for their licensure. In the alternate semester, juniors complete a semester-long field experience working with English language learners as part of their ED 330 Sheltered English
Immersion course. Practicum
How hard is the MTEL general curriculum?
Most test takers find the aptly named General Curriculum Multi-subject MTEL to be quite difficult. The test covers many subjects—hence the “multi-subject” moniker—science, history, and English.
Students in early childhood or elementary education complete a full-semester practicum in their licensure field during the senior year. They are placed in local Massachusetts schools and closely supervised by a supervising practitioner and a program supervisor.
If you’re taking the MTEL Early Childhood (02) Exam, you’ll want these materials. This program includes courses in both content and pedagogy. Students seeking licensure are required to complete a 100-hour pre-practicum and 300-hour practicum in a classroom in their final two semesters. Students completing the Community Professional (Non-Licensure) track will complete a research project in their final semester. You have 15 minutes to complete a pre-test tutorial and four
hours to complete the exam. To be eligible for a preliminary license, you need to hold a
bachelor’s degree and pass the required MTEL examination(s).
By the end of the semester, seniors are fully immersed in their job search and prepared to enter the profession of teaching. Students pursuing the early childhood and elementary education license have the opportunity to add an initial license in moderate disabilities (preK-8). Students who have earned the early childhood license may also add the license by completing the three courses and passing the General Curriculum Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL). The early childhood years are so important because it’s a crucial developmental phase. It takes dedicated educators to teach these young minds. In Massachusetts, teachers take the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL) Early Childhood (02) Exam.
If you want it, you’ll make it happen, by hook or by crook. Confirmation of a license area in either elementary or early childhood takes place in the second year of the program. At this point, individuals pursuing a license in early childhood education enroll in ED 207 Strategies of Teaching in the Early Childhood Classroom. From then on, the program of study for the specific license is followed. The early childhood program of study includes electives in the liberal arts, ED 221 Emergent Literacy Instruction, ED 308 Early Childhood Methods, and ED 401 Practicum and Seminar in Early Childhood Education. Upon graduation, students apply for their Massachusetts license for the field in which they completed the practicum.
