The California Preliminary Administrative Credential Examination (CPACE) is a certification exam designed to assess the knowledge, skills, and abilities of prospective school administrators in the state of California. The exam is administered by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) in collaboration with the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson. The CPACE is an essential requirement for individuals aspiring to become school administrators, such as principals, vice-principals, and other administrative roles in California’s K-12 public schools. The professional learning and growth leadership topic tests the following three areas of competency in about 11 multiple-choice questions. The CPACE Content test contains 70 multiple-choice and three constructed-response questions. The multiple-choice questions assess knowledge of school leadership and, when it comes to educational administration, the ability to apply knowledge or conduct tasks.

Never once did any of the law cases that were emphasized so strongly ever appear on the test.
