Central Florida Institute of Training’s FCCPC program is an early childhood vocational training course designed to raise the standard of the skill and knowledge of early childhood professionals in the State of Florida. The successful learner who has demonstrated their competency through the completion of our FCCPC program will receive a Florida Child Care Professional Credential. This 12-credit hour certificate recognizes the completion of a series of courses needed by early childhood teachers who wish to complete the college-credit National Infant Toddler CDA Certificate to work in group care settings with children under the age of three. In order to be awarded a Postsecondary Training certificate, students must have met the following requirements. Child Development and Learning

Understanding principles of child development, including social development, emotional development, and learning, using the cultural resources (language, cultural traditions, heritage, knowledge) children bring to the learning community. The state of Florida has approved Fort Myers Technical College’s Early Childhood Education program for training the mandatory 45-hour child care courses. Through participation and successful completion of the Early Childhood Education program, eligible students may be granted the Early Childhood Professional Certification (Staff Credential) through the Florida Department of Education. The purpose of the Early Childhood Education program is to prepare students for initial employment and career advancement in the field of early childhood education. Job opportunities are available as child care aides, child care workers, or preschool teachers. Birth through Five FCCPC students are required to submit written proof of 480 clock hours working with children in an early childhood childcare setting in the last five (5) years prior to issuance of a completion certificate.
Child life specialists work in hospital settings and help reduce the stress and anxiety children and families experience related to healthcare and hospitalization. Please note that you will not become certified upon completing this program as there are additional requirements to meet post-graduation. The CDA® is a credential that early childhood educators can apply for from the Council for Professional Recognition after completing a series of requirements.
In addition to being available through live 3-day events, the CDA Fast Track course is also available through our innovative video web-based Distance Learning Program. The cost of our C.D.A. program is usually $795.00 but we currently have grant money to help students cover most if not all of this cost. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) forecasts 6% growth for Childcare Workers between now and 2031, like the expected growth rates for all jobs. The Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential

This is an option for students who want to renew their National CDA credential, their Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC), or their Florida Director Credential, with one early childhood course. The Florida Department of Children and Families has additional requirements for renewal that may be accessed at myflorida.com/childcare/training. The Florida Director Credential is the educational requirement of all administrators/directors of early childhood centers or licensed family child care homes. Students who meet the Department of Children and Families requirement for the Foundation Level Director Credential must successfully complete EEC 1523. The following courses, offered at AU, will fulfill the 120-hour educational component for the Preschool, Infant-Toddler, and Family Child Care Credential. Renewing or Updating your Expired CDA

This credential from the Florida Department of Children and Families is earned by completing two courses (6 credit hours) in Early Childhood.
Here, we believe that all children deserve a strong foundation in a safe and nurturing environment, using a constructive approach to learning. The Florida Department of Education offers this credential for work in preschool classrooms only. A candidate completes 120 hours of classroom instruction, including the 40 hours of DCF introductory training.

The program focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary for a competent teacher to address the learning needs of young children. It supports the provision of developmentally appropriate environments conducive to the development of each individual child as they prepare for future academic, social, and emotional demands. The knowledge provided meets Florida’s pre-kindergarten standards. The certificate issued through successful completion of this coursework is required in order to teach in Florida’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Program.
However, keep in mind that not all certifying bodies or industry-specific certifications are recognized internationally. Please review your country’s regulations before enrolling in courses preparing for certification. Earn a high school diploma, GED or be enrolled as a junior or senior in a high school career and technical program in early childhood education. Candidates who apply online will receive a $25.00 discount and the cost for renewal is $125.00. This includes a review of your Professional Portfolio and Verification Visit. Low-cost online training like ChildSavers‘ 13-month training course costs $20 per class ($260 total) and $80 for books. No, this course prepares students for the Infant-Toddler and Preschool pathways/exams of the CDA. The CDA® Early Childhood Education course provided through the Indiana Non Formal CDA® Project is available to individuals at no cost contingent upon meeting the eligibility criteria established relating to financial and service need.
The scholarship supports the cost of instruction, textbooks, adult education support and advisor services, and final CDA® assessment/credentialing. While students will be completing their CDA classes online, they will be able to receive extra support if needed on any of our campuses as well as online. Childcare workers keep children safe, care for their needs, and help them with their development through reading, doing crafts, or engaging in other activities. They also communicate with parents regarding their children’s progress and behavior. Childcare workers often work at daycare centers, preschools, someone’s home, or even their own home. Students must successfully pass each ECPC module with a passing grade of A, B or C and complete all additional requirements for each of the modules in order to be eligible to continue in the program.
