Kindra completed her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Nursing Science from The Catholic University of America in 2009. She worked for five years in a private practice hematology oncology infusion office. Then she transitioned into an inpatient oncology unit at the Virginia Hospital Center, caring for leukemia and lymphoma patients. During this time, Kindra explored her passion as an Oncology Clinical Nurse Educator and an instructor in a nursing residency program.
Once I started talking about my passion for oncology nursing and the impact I had on patients, I relaxed. I won the New York State ACS Miss Hope Pageant and continued working as a volunteer representative of ACS at the state level, volunteering at their breast screening clinics and assisting at community education presentations. She is a recipient of the 2015 Ingram’s Magazine Heroes in Healthcare, the 2011 University of Kansas Hospital Hematology/Oncology Nurse of the Year Excellence Award, and the recipient of the 1992 E. When a woman is experiencing breast health issues, it is a very stressful time.
Darcy has over 30 years of experience as an oncology nurse serving in a variety of roles. She is currently the Survivorship Nurse Navigator at the Helen F Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute. In addition to her clinical experience, she has held leadership positions in the local and national Oncology Nursing Society and has authored articles, book chapters, and has presented locally and nationally on numerous oncology topics.
She is also involved in the care of breast cancer patients participating in clinical trials. Janice supports and participates in patient supportive care programs such as Advance Care Planning, Survivorship, and Therapy Review and Coordination for breast cancer patients. She serves as a guest faculty lecturer and speaks nationally on the topic of breast cancer care and treatment. Her interests are also in nursing research exploring the psychosocial aspects of breast cancer in patients and family.
