If you’re already enrolled in a certification program, you need to contact them to explore your testing options. What is the pact test in Texas?
A Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT) can be used for admission to an alternative certification or post-baccalaureate educator preparation program (EPP).
Intensive pre-service (IPS) candidates and some Texas charter school teacher candidates will be required to take this pre-admission exam. Taking a PACT does not ensure a candidate’s admittance into a preparation program. A PACT is not required for applicants who meet the 2.5 GPA and have completed a minimum of either 12 or 15 semester credit hours of coursework.

Upon successfully passing the TX PACT Life Science Grades 7-12 exam, candidates will receive their test results, which will be reported to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the educator preparation program (EPP) they are enrolled in. Passing the exam is one of the requirements for obtaining Texas educator certification in life sciences for grades 7-12. Once all requirements are met, candidates can apply for certification through the TEA and become eligible to teach life sciences in Texas public schools. Passing the PACT is required for teacher candidates participating in the intensive pre-service (IPS) route or looking to teach at some Texas charter schools. You must enroll with an alternative teacher certification program BEFORE you take your TExES tests. Once you apply and have been accepted into an educator preparation program (EPP) like ECAP, you must create an account with the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

You can register for the PACT exam through the Texas Educator Agency’s (TEA) Educator Certification Online System (ECOS). The best thing to do is have any answer you receive from your Educator Preparation Program emailed to you, so you have it in writing and can refer back to it to determine whether or not you need to take a PACT exam.

This is a very important question that is worthy of an answer early in the application process.
